KARL HUBER (1872-1953): TANZERINNEN (NYMPHS DANCING)

a dark patinated bronze relief panel, German, circa 1919, modelled as a frieze of bacchantes on a ledge, signed in the bronze with the artist's monogram and dated top right, bronze 28 x 63.5cm, cream painted mount and ebonised frame 44 x 79.5cm

Karl Huber studied at the Kunstgewerbeschule in Munich, becoming a teacher at Offenbach’s School of Arts and Crafts in 1908, later coming into contact with the Darmstadt school of artists and producing designs for the town’s Großherzogliche Keramische Manufaktur.
