Islamic Works of Art
The first specialist sale to include Islamic works of art was held at 25 Blythe Road in April 2013 and, since then, two sales a year, in Spring and Autumn have taken place at our saleroom. At the beginning of 2016, Islamic Art joined up with the East Asian and European Works of Art auctions held by Matthew Barton Ltd.
The sales are curated by Arthur Millner, a specialist with more than 30 years' experience in auctions, and as a dealer and consultant. He is on the Islamic vetting committees of several major art and antique fairs and also lectures on the subject. In 2015, his well-received book, Damascus Tiles, was published. The sales include metalwork, ceramics, textiles and paintings from all parts of the Islamic world, from Morocco in the west, through the Middle East, Persia and Central Asia to muslim China and South East Asia in the East. Objects range in date from the early centuries of Islam to the early 20th century at a wide range of price levels.
