Our bi-annual From the Studio sales provide a solution for families looking to disperse the work of a deceased relation. When an artist dies, their immediate descendants often keep their studios as they left them. Or they clear the studio but keep the works, conscious perhaps that they are not properly stored or curated. Now elderly themselves or the grandchildren of these artists, they feel the time has come to do something with this legacy.

Restoring reputations and finding a new audience
Olympia Auctions’ From the Studio sales have invigorated the market for artists ripe for rediscovery and stimulated both new art buyers and established collectors looking for fresh material. Since October 2022, we have sold 550 works from 25 artists ranging from Sir William Rothenstein and Albert Rutherston to Hans Feibusch, Marie-Louise von Motesiczky, Maurice Cockrill, Rose Hilton and Trevor Bell. Sell rates are typically 90% or more.
