of regulation pattern, with bright 17th century blade double-edged towards the point (some surface rust) and incised ‘ANDRIA’ and ‘VARARA’ between cross marks within the narrow double fullers along the back on both sides, pierced steel hilt with characteristic applied ormolu mounts on the guard including crowned foliate ‘1’ centred on a foliate ‘LG’, all within a border of twelve domed copper alloy studs, steel pommel and back-piece in one, the former with stepped ovoidal tang button, wire-bound fishskin-covered grip, and retaining its buff leather liner, in its steel scabbard with ovoidal copper alloy suspension mounts each with suspension ring (hilt and scabbard with old surface rust), 85.8 cm blade
