MARGARET KNOTT

MARGARET KNOTT, LATE 20TH CENTURY CHALKFIELD WINCHESTER, 2003 signed l.r; gouache 29.5cm x 29.5cm; 11 1/2in x 11 1/2in Exhibited London, The Mall Galleries, 2004 Margaret Knott studied at Saint Martin's School of Art in the 1950s and then worked as a designer with major London advertising agencies. Some of her work was published in 'Designers in Britain'. She later studied ceramics at Putney School of Art and went on to teach it there. She is still involved with the school as Vice Chairman of Friends of Putney School of Art. Margaret Knott is now well-established as a painter in gouache and oils and a printmaker of etchings. Her inspiration comes from the English countryside and the River Thames. She has shown frequently at the Royal Academy Summer Exhibition and at the Mall Galleries in exhibitions of the Royal Institute of Painters in Water Colours and the Royal Society of British Artists.
