of regulation pattern, with blade of flattened diamond section slightly widening towards the tip and with a fuller over both sides of the forte, the latter stamped ‘ENFIELD 1849’ on one side, copper alloy hilt comprising lobed slightly down-bent quillons, ribbed grip incorporating the sprung catch and pommel engraved ‘96’ over ‘A58’ on one side, in its black leather scabbard (seam partly open) cut ‘8’ below the copper alloy frog-hook and with copper alloy chape, 55.5 cm blade
