The rare, figural 'Bacchanalian' pattern appears to have been introduced by Rundell, Bridge & Rundell in about 1812 (pieces of this date are held by the Royal Collections) after designs for the company by the artist/designer Thomas Stothard (1755-34), earlier examples predominantly from Paul Storr's workshops.
