LATE 18TH/EARLY 19TH CENTURY, REIGN OF SELIM III ((1789-1807) OR MAHMUD II (1807-1839)
with curved single-edged blade (minor old staining), hilt comprising border engraved quillon-block with pointed langets and bud-shaped quillon terminals, reeded grip-strap, and rounded rhinoceros horn grip-scales pierced through the pommel for a red cord tassel, in its black leather wood-lined scabbard with wire seamed along the inside and deep border engraved locket and chape (minor old denting), rounded suspension mounts each with suspension ring, and retaining much of its gilding, 84.5 cm blade
