K. Laxma Goud was amongst the forty five artists who contributed work to the Royal Academy exhibition of 1982 entitled "Contemporary Indian Painting' as part of the Festival of India. Robert had met the artist by the 1960s when he bought this work directly from Goud. Another of Goud's ink drawings in this style and dating from 1980 was sold Sotheby's, 29th September 2020, lot 8, from the estate of Patwant Singh.
