‡ A DANISH MODEL 1772 PALLASCH FOR AN OFFICER OF LIFEGUARDS, REIGN OF CHRISTIAN VII (1766-1808)
the slightly tapering bright fullered blade with narrow fuller along the back over most of its length on both sides, the ricasso on one side stamped ‘FREDEROKSVAERD’, and ‘BGG’ on the back , silvered copper alloy hilt comprising double shell-guard, side-guard above cast and chased with the crowned arms of Denmark above a martial trophy and linked to the knuckle-guard, the latter hooked into the globular pommel, ring-shaped inner-guard and thumb-ring, rounded rear quillon and wooden grip bound with a strand of plaited copper alloy wire, in its copper alloy mounted leather covered wooden scabbard with open rectangular panels along each side, retaining traces of silvering and with four suspension rings, 89.5 cm blade
