Born in Chittagong, now in Bangladesh, Hore worked as a journalist as a young man, most significantly bearing witness to the famine of 1943 in Bengal. The images from this experience became recurring themes in his work as an artist, a lasting testament to the compassion that he felt for those he had seen at a time of great suffering.
