**AN INDO-PERSIAN HELMET (KULAH KHUD), 19TH CENTURY with hemispherical skull decorated over almost its entire surface with finely chiselled designs of scrolling foliage and flowers, carrying cartouche-shaped panels applied with engraved silver bouquets inhabited by exotic birds and further smaller panels filled with flowerheads within gold frames, the base decorated with chiselled panels filled with calligraphic inscriptions and exotic birds all highlighted in silver, fitted with a contemporary central spike and sliding nasal guard each decorated with exotic birds within gilt frames (each with light pitting and wear), a pair of slender plume-holders, and the neck fitted with a shaped defence of butted mail links (minor losses) 30.5cm; 12in high
