AN INDIAN GAUNTLET SWORD (PATA), PROBABLY 18TH/19TH CENTURY MYSORE, KARNATAKA

with broad tapering double-edged blade of flattened-diamond section, copper alloy gauntlet hilt extending over the forte with a pair of shaped panels, embossed over its surface with an elaborate Yali with traditional scrollwork and flowerheads behind, and the inside fitted with a grip-bar and slender arm bar with recurved terminals (cleaned, small restorations), 91.5 cm blade
