Many of the scenes on the box were probably taken from prints by or after Georg Philipp Rugendas I (1766-1742). A similarly moulded oval snuff box is illustrated by Barbara Beaucamp-Markowsky, Collection of 18th Century Porcelain Boxes, Amsterdam, 1988, No.167.
