Born in Amman, Ammar Khammash is a prominent Jordanian whose diverse talents encompass painting, architecture, photography, and scientific exploration. Renowned for his work in historical preservation, Khammash has held eighteen solo art exhibitions and contributed to more than twenty group shows since 1978. His commitment to environmental and community development is reflected in several projects across Jordan, and his passion for Jordan’s heritage has resulted in a vast photographic archive documenting its architecture, anthropology, archaeology, and landscapes.

Khammash graduated with a BA in Architecture from the University of Southwestern Louisiana in 1986 and later pursued graduate studies in Ethnoarchaeology at Yarmouk University from 1987 to 1988. He has published influential works, including "Jordan, A Timeless Land" and "Notes on Village Architecture in Jordan", and continues to live and work in Amman. His unique artistic style is shaped by his training in architecture and ethnoarchaeology, treating landscapes as layered records of history. His paintings are noted for their textured, earthy qualities, often appearing as extensions of the very terrain they portray—capturing the enduring, rugged essence of Jordan’s land.
