A SOUTH INDIAN ARM DEFENCE (DASTANA), 17TH/18TH CENTURY, POSSIBLY ARCOT OR MADRAS, TAMIL NADU
formed of a tapering gutter-shaped main plate with recurved bud-shaped terminal, hinged inner plate, the borders reinforced at the joins with a cusped panel, the upper portion pierced for a lining, each plate embossed with an elliptical moulding at the wrist, chiselled with a foliate panel surrounded by numerous piercings on each plate and with some early silver-plated finish, 31.3 cm
