A PAIR OF 22 BORE CONTINENTAL FLINTLOCK HOLSTER PISTOLS, SECOND QUARTER OF THE 18TH CENTURY with swamped sighted barrels (areas of pitting), scroll-engraved bevelled locks fitted with faceted pans, bevelled cocks engraved en suite, walnut full stocks (a working replacement), brass mounts including openwork side-plates pierced with scrolling foliage inhabited by hounds and a bird around a central portrait medallion, spurred pommels with grotesque mask caps and late 18th Century trigger-guards with pineapple finials, horn fore-end caps, and horn-tipped wooden ramrods 30.2 cm; 12 in barrels (2)
