Ⓦ A NORTH EUROPEAN SMALL-SWORD, CIRCA 1800 AND TWO FURTHER SMALL-SWORDS

the first with tapering blade of hollow-triangular section (shortened), iron hilt pierced and chased with panels of scrolling foliage, including ovoid shell-guard, a pair of straight quillons, knuckle-guard and tall openwork pommel, and the with a later binding of plaited copper wire between 'Turk's Heads'; the second with hollow-triangular blade, silver hilt (incomplete) pierced with scrolling designs of beadwork within foliate frames, including rear shell-guard, knuckle-guard and ovoid pommel; the third with slender hollow-triangular blade, and steel hilt chiselled in imitation of brilliants, including oval guard (quillon-tip missing), knuckle-guard and urn-shaped pommel
