AN ENGLISH SILVER-HILTED SMALL-SWORD, LONDON SILVER HALLMARKS FOR 1764, MAKER’S MARK OF
WILLIAM KINMAN
with polished colichemarde blade (light surface rust) of sharply tapering hollow triangular section, the forte on both sides with indistinct French inscription centred amid strapwork, characteristic hilt cast and chased in relief with European and Oriental miliary busts each centred on a martial trophy, swelling grip bound with silver ribbon and two types of silver wire, and in fine condition, 83.5 cm blade
