A JAPANESE DAGGER (TANTO), LATE KOTO PERIOD the blade hira-zukuri, mu-zori and iori-mune, mokume hada with a faint midare-utsuri, suguha hamon with slight midare towards the kissaki and in nioi-deki, full boshi with kaeri and nakago with three mekugi-ana (one filled) and signed Bishu Osafune Kiyomitsu on the omote and dated Eiroku X Nen Ni Gatsu Nichi (Eiroku 1558-1569) on the ura; with green nashiji lacquered saya, dogane of shibuichi depicting dragons in turbulent seas, other mounts (koi-guchi, tsoritsuna and kojiri) decorated ensuite and silver kozuka depicting a tiger Nagasa: 25.8 cm; Moto-haba: 2.2 cm; Saki-haba: 1.7 cm
