AN ENGLISH CROSSBOW BY E.BLANCHER, ATTLEBOROUGH, EARLY 18TH CENTURY with associated slender steel bow fitted with later string, and inscribed with the spurious date '1661' on a small metal plaque wedging the bow, tiller grooved at the front for bolts, fitted with long iron panels extending over the butt, bronze nut, signed on a plaque behind in silver, a pair of lugs for a winding device, and long iron trigger with acorn finial (the iron parts pitted, restorations) 80.5 cm; 31 3/4 in tiller
