formed of a single lame front and rear, each with a low upstanding flange at the neck, the front plate extending down to the bottom of the chest and fitted at its centre with a brass badge cast in relief with a pair of confronted and entwined sea-monsters beneath a crown, and the main edges of both plates formed with finely-roped inward turns accompanied by a recessed border projecting inwards at points as cusps, each terminating in a trio of decorative rivets
