A VENETIAN SCHIAVONA, LATE 17TH/EARLY 18TH CENTURY with broad tapering blade cut with a short uneven fuller on each face (shortened, the edges chipped), iron hilt of characteristic type, including strongly recurved quillon, basket-guard of broad ribbon-like bars, thumb-ring, and near rectangular pommel decorated with a raised boss on each face, and original wooden grip bound with leather over string (small losses, the hilt patinated) 66.5cm; 26 1/4in blade
