Ayanfe Olarinde is a self-taught multimedia artist. Her practice, encompassing painting, photography, collage, wire work and found objects, emerged from a personal obsession with scribbling, a process she uses to excavate emotion and explore the fluidity of form. Her signature technique of layered, jagged calligraphic marks has made her work instantly recognisable, and her internationally recognised series Dem Bobo, addressing gender, identity and social inequality, was featured by CNN, Vogue and Euronews. Olarinde was listed among the 100 Most Inspiring Women in Nigeria in 2020 and has had solo exhibitions at the African Artists Foundation, Lagos, and JD Malat Gallery, London.
