Augustus the Strong's enormous collections of Chinese and Japanese porcelain from the Japanese Palace were subject to three monumental inventories undertaken in 1721, 1770, and 1779, the inventory numbers known as Johanneum numbers following their re-display in 1875 in the old royal picture gallery, the Johanneum.
