AN AUSTRO-HUNGARIAN HUSSAR OFFICER'S SABRE, THIRD QUARTER OF THE 18TH CENTURY in the Turkish manner, with very broad blade formed with a reinforced back-edge and swelling to a double-edged point, etched on each side in imitation of a calligraphic inscription, gilt-brass hilt comprising a pair of rectangular langets, quillons with moulded baluster terminals, and back-strap, fitted with a pair of exotic hardwood grips retained by two pairs of rivets with fluted brass caps, in its original leather-covered wooden scabbard, the edges bound by brass borders, with gilt-brass locket, chape and middle band each chased with bold sprays of rococo scrolls and stylised shell patterns, and fitted with two rings for suspension 76cm; 30in blade
