AN 1803 PATTERN INFANTRY OFFICER'S SWORD AND A STIRRUP-HILTED SWORD, 19TH CENTURY the first with earlier curved blade cut with a broad shallow fuller, retaining traces of a cartouche decorated in the Eastern manner (patches of rust), etched along the length of the back-edge with a running pattern of foliage on a blackened ground, regulation gilt-brass hilt, and wire-bound fishskin-covered grip; the second with slightly curved fullered blade double-edged towards the point, brass stirrup hilt and banded wooden grip bound with plaited wire the first: 82.5cm; 32 1/2in blade (2)
