‡A DETECTOR LOCK, LATE 18TH/EARLY 19TH CENTURY with iron body enclosing the action, the latter incorporating a sliding bolt, a sprung latch bolt and two further bolts operated by a key, the front with moulded frame with moulded brass lip on the right, fitted with blued iron 'detector' hand corresponding to an engraved dial with Roman numerals to twelve, the dial carried on a large brass panel pierced and engraved with rococo ornament including scrolling foliage inhabited by a bird, trellis and drapery (restorations) 20.2 cm; 8 in wide
