◉ A RARE TURKISH SILVER-MOUNTED SHAMSHIR FOR A YOUTH, TURKISH SILVER AND TUGHRA MARKS
PROBABLY REIGN OF ABDULAZIZ (1277-93 AH CORRESPONDING TO 1861-76 AD)
with curved single-edged blade of finely watered wootz steel, hilt comprising quillon-block with bluntly-pointed langets and bud-shaped quillon terminals, plain grip-strap, and rounded rhinoceros horn grip-scales, the latter pierced for a sword-knot at the pommel and with fluted domed silver mount on each side, in original fabric-covered wooden scabbard with deep locket and chape, shaped suspension mounts each with suspension ring, and retaining traces of gilding (some old wear), 52.5 cm blade
