A RARE BREECH-LOADING CANNON, 15TH/EARLY 16TH CENTURY in excavated condition, formed in two sections, the muzzle section formed of a core of longitudinal plates bound by raised bands, the median with a sweated on band incorporating the trunnions, adjustable stirrup mount, the breech section open at the top, the base incorporating a bar to hold the breech block, extending at the rear to a long tapering tiller, complete with its breech block and wedge: on a rustic wooden block stand 109.2cm; 43in barrel 6.5cm; 2 1/2in bore
