with hammered circular bowl and short pedestal foot, applied at the rim with swan heads craning over the rim, stamped 'LALAOUNIS / 900'

Illias Lalaounis (1920-2013), the renowned jeweller and goldsmith, was inspired by a 5th century BC vessel from Persepolis when creating this design, an example illustrated in his book 'Metamorphosis' (Athens, 1984, p.164).
