A JAPANESE SWORD (WAKIZASHI), KOTO PERIOD the blade hira-zukuri and iori-mune, engraved with a futatsu-hi on each face, notare-midare hamon in ko-nie and nioi becoming gunome in places, kaeri-fukashi boshi and ubu nakago with single mekugi-ana, kuri-jiri and signed Bishu Mihara Ju Masatsugu on the omote and dated indistinctly Eisho san-nen hachi gatsu nichi on the ura; with red lacquered saya depicting insects carved in low relief, oval shibuichi tsuba depicting waterfowl and trees on the omote and with traces of a signature on the ura, kozuka mumei, menuki formed as a skull on one face and a mythical creature on the other and tsuka of brown ito over white samé Nagasa: 26.7 cm; Moto-haba: 2.4 cm This sword is accompanied by a Tokubetsu Kicho certificate No. 231389 dated Showa 47th year.
