‡ A PAIR OF 32 BORE DUTCH LONG WHEEL-LOCK HOLSTER PISTOLS, MID-17TH CENTURY
with tapering barrels formed in two stages, octagonal breeches struck ‘IK’ divided by a further mark, rounded locks retained by three side nails , fitted with external wheels retained by a small basal bracket, sliding pan-covers with button release, and dogs, blackened full stocks (one with a small chip ahead of the lock, one fore-end with a small crack, the other expertly repaired), slender butts carved with an expanded flowerhead on the pommel, iron mounts comprising trigger-guards, a single ramrod-pipe and fore-end cap, and three staghorn side nail washers (later iron-tipped wooden ramrods), 63.7 cm (2)
