George Robertson’s view of London is a charming reflection on the arcadian expanse which was 18th century Camberwell. Although now a bustling and vigorous part of contemporary London's urban sprawl, it was in 1779 an area famed for its fruit trees and flowers. Even at this point in history the sheer size of the city is staggering, with the low rise carpet of 18th century civilisation rolling on for miles. It is interesting to note that the city is almost only identifiable as London due to St Paul's and Westminster Abbey towering above it all.
