AN INDIAN IVORY CHESS PIECE, BENGAL, LATE 19TH CENTURY carved as an elephant carrying an uncovered howdah with two passengers and a mahout, on flat rectangular base, 8cm high; together with a pair of Indian ivory chess pieces, Bengal, late 19th/early 20th century, white rooks formed as elephants carrying flagged turrets, 5.5cm high; a Burmese ivory model of an elephant, first half 20th century, walking with raised trunk, 7.5cm high; and a Burmese ivory group of elephants, first half 20th century, on an arched bridge, 19cm wide (5)
