A NORTH EUROPEAN FINGERED GAUNTLET FOR THE LEFT HAND, CIRCA 1620-30, PROBABLY DUTCH formed of a flared tubular cuff joined at its inside, and shaped to the base of the thumb, fitted with seven cusped metacarpal plates and a single knuckle-plate, the main edges of the cuff with file-roped inward turns, accompanied in the case of the upper one by a recessed border, and the subsidiary edges of the remaining plates with incised lines (the inside of the cuff pierced with later suspension-holes), painted black throughout 24.1 cm; 9 1/2 in
