**A POLEAXE, MID-17TH CENTURY, PROBABALY SWISS
with slightly curved axe blade rising to a sharp central point, stamped twice on each side with a mark, a cross with the letter 'O' above in a shaped recess, stout rear spike, and a pair of separate long straps, on a wooden haft
