The theme of books and scholars posessions (chaekgori) became popular at court with members of the elite class in the 18th Century. Such paintings always include stacks of books, ink sticks, brushes, scrolls and antiquities, items that scholars had (or wished to have) around them in the studies.

The sale of 170 lots comprise of a wide range of Chinese works such as ceramics from the Song to Qing Dynasty, an English private collection of jade and hardstone carvings, furniture, bronzes and sculptures.

The Japanese section includes works of art, ceramics, including a small private collection of contemporary ceramics by Kondo Yuzo, bronzes and prints. From Korea, a highlight is a Chaekgeori eight-fold screen with hidden artist seal from the Joseon Dynasty, 19th century.
