‡ A RARE VENETIAN BROADSWORD, EARLY 16TH CENTURY
with broad flat straight double-edged blade, formed with a central slender third-length fuller on each face and with a latten-inlaid running wolf mark on one face at the forte, iron hilt comprising a pair of broad fluted spatulate quillons widening towards the tips, strongly curled inwardly and outwardly respectively, rectangular pommel with characteristic central hemi-spherical moulding front and back, and spirally-moulded leather covered grip, almost certainly the original, 88.2 cm blade
