with curved single-edged blade broadening towards the tip, engraved with a stylised wave pattern and with a slender central groove on each face, fitted at its base with a stout down-curved spike, on a wooden haft fitted at the top with a long tapering copper alloy collar decorated with flowers and beadwork on a blackened ground

49.3 cm; 19 3/8 in head

Part proceeds to benefit the Acquisition Fund of the Arms and Armor department, The Metropolitan Museum of Art, New York.
