SIX SMALL MATCHED CHINESE BLUE AND WHITE DISHES. QING DYNASTY, KANGXI PERIOD (1662-1722)

each painted to the interior with a medallion enclosing a mother and child, encircled at the flaring rim by four fruit-filled oval panels reserved on a diaper band, the exterior with four ribbon-tied Buddhist emblems, 10.5cm diameter

Provenance: Property of a European Collector (see lot 8 for further details); The Earls of Gosford, Gosford Castle, Ulster (according to a late 19th century label on one plate); Christie’s, South Kensington, 30 January 1997, lot 268 (part)

John Singer Sargent painted a famous portrait of the Acheson Sisters (daughters of the 4th Earl of Gosford), now at Chatsworth.
