AN INDIAN SILVER-HILTED KHANJAR WITH LION-HEAD POMMEL, 19TH CENTURY
with recurved single-edged blade of finely watered wootz steel, the forte on both sides and waisted basal mount damascened in gold with flowering foliage, and hilt with grip of circular section rising to the lion-head pommel formed in the round with tongue protruding from his open mouth, chased with symmetrical flowering foliage on the back of the mane, and originally set with gem stones for eyes and between the ears, 23.3 cm blade
