A GERMAN SWEPT-HILT RAPIER, CIRCA 1610-20 with slender blade of flattened-diamond section cut with a short fuller on each face and cut with a running wolf mark inlaid in copper on the reverse, tapering ricasso struck with a series of marks and punched ornament extending over the base of the blade (rubbed), iron hilt of flattened-rounded bars, including strongly down-curved rear quillon, recurved vertical knuckle-guard, diagonal outer-guard joining the base of the knuckle-guard to the rear arm, small inner ring-guard drawn-up on the outer side to form a single up-turned bar, fluted barrel-shaped pommel, the principal bars decorated with fluting at the terminals, and later grip bound with wire and 'Turks' heads' 95.1cm; 37 1/2in blade
