‡˜A FINE MALASIAN DAGGER (KRIS), LATE 19TH AND EARLY 20TH CENTURY with blackened wavy pattern-welded blade chiselled and gilt with a mythological serpent over its length, the forte chiselled with scrolls of foliage and flowers and encrusted with gold, Garuda-type ivory grip carved with scrolling foliage (chipped), filigree mendak, in its carved wooden scabbard, the shank encased in sheet gold, chased on the outer face with scrollwork inhabited by mythological beasts and birds and the inner face decorated with a crowned magic square at the top 31.5 cm; 12 3/8 in blade
