A JAPANESE MATCHLOCK GUN (TEPPO), LATE EDO PERIOD of large and heavy size (Ohn-zutsu) with black lacquered stock decorated with seven large mon in gold lacquer including Kiri-mon, Kutsuwa-mon (Shimazu family), Uroko-mon, Momo-mon, Mitsuboshi-mon and Hane-mon and heavy octagonal iron barrel widening towards the muzzle engraved with mythical birds in a clouded sky and with a panel at the base with characters in gilt Naka Yama Dai and X Kore Barrel: 70.0 cm; 27 5/8 in long Overall: 101.0 cm; 39 7/8 in long
