**AN AFRICAN FIGHTING DAGGER (BASWA KNIFE), CONGO, LATE 19TH CENTURY with broad blade of leaf-shaped form, cut with a series of decorative lines, formed with a central ridge and blackened to contrast, hardwood hilt (small cracks) formed with a pronounced inverted mushroom-shaped pommel studded over the greater part of its surface with geometric designs in yellow and white metal, and the top of the pommel with a knot pattern 37cm; 14 1/2in overall
