Provenance:
Private Collection, London

The paintings of Shahrzad Ghaffari are inspired by ancient Persian poetry and channel mysticism into a new visual language. Her work explores the metaphysics of love, where human union touches the divine. This work is inspired by Rumi's poem.

'You haven’t heard my name in this world!
I’m no one, no one, no one.'

As a member of the Ghaffari family which sired such Persian masters as Sani-ol-Molk and Kamal-ol-Molk Ghaffari, Shahrzad continues a family tradition spanning 150 years.

Devoted to painting from an early age, Ghaffari's first solo show in 2011 opened to critical acclaim at Golestan Gallery, Tehran. She has since exhibited as far afield as France, Malaysia, Canada, Dubai and London. In 2018, she was commissioned by Leighton House in Kensington, London to create a monumental mural for their new spiral staircase, part of the house's major renovation. In conjunction with this commission, Ghaffari's paintings are on exhibition at the house until 1 October 2023. The artist divides her time between Iran and Canada.
