manual wind Swiss calibre 841 movement signed Jaeger LeCoultre, white dial with Roman numerals, the rhodium plated rectangular 'Tank' type case with pavé-set brilliant-cut diamonds to the brancards, case back secured by two screws hidden behind the screw-set lug bars, blue stone cabochon to crown, leather strap with folding buckle set with further diamonds to the D clasp, case 18mm wide
McCabe McCarty was a partnership of two bench trained goldsmiths, Peter McCabe and David McCarty, established in 1973, Peter was trained at the Central School of Arts & Crafts, and David was apprenticed to Cartier through Wright & Davies from 1959. David worked at Cartier until 1973 when he left to establish his own company. The partnership soon flourished and was divided in to three lines of business: producing items for special commission for the Bond Street shops; producing designs to sell to the Bond Street shops that may then be made up to order; and finally producing items that would be exhibited at the Basle shows. During the company’s heyday they were supplying all the principal houses in Bond Street including Cartier, Garrard and Asprey, as well as for a retail outlet in Japan. With the death of Peter in 1991, David continued the business to be joined by his son and daughter in 1994. Today the firm still continues producing special commissions to Heads of State under David McCarty Ltd.
