AN IRANI CIGARETTE BOX, MOHAMMED TAQI ZUFAN, ISFAHAN, THIRD QUARTER 20TH CENTURY

rectangular, the lid applied with the gilt Imperial coat of arms of Iran under the Pahlavi dynasty surrounded by finely worked floral strapwork, the sides with further strapwork and birds, gilt interior, '84' standard and maker's marks, 16cm long, 323g

This box could have been an Imperial presentation piece and/or may commemorate the coronation of Reza Mohammed Pahlavi as Shahanshah in 1967. For another box with the same applied arms and from the same renowned workshop of Taqi Zufan, apparently commemorating the coronation, see Chiswick Auctions, London, 22 April 2020, lot 163.
