‡˜A FINE 15 BORE INDIAN MATCHLOCK GUN (TORADOR)

‡˜A FINE 15 BORE INDIAN MATCHLOCK GUN (TORADOR), EARLY 19TH CENTURY with tapering sighted barrel retained by three broad shaped brass bands, vase-shaped muzzle chiselled with broad leaves of foliage, the remaining surface of the gun chiselled over its entire surface with a symmetrical arrangement of flowers and foliage against a punched ground within a framework of tendrils, inscribed 'S.K.2' over the breech and with integral pan (pivot-cover missing), chiselled openwork trigger, iron serpentine, figured full stock carved with chevrons beneath the breech and fluted behind the tang, fitted with eight pairs of large ivory rondels, a further rondel beneath the fore-end (restorations, one small chip), and two further slender plaques forming the butt-cap (later ramrod) 124.2 cm; 48 7/8 in barrel
